SOUND TRACKS of life

– Moussa Diallo on bass

Synopsis

He came – all the way from Mali to Denmark – and changed our sound of music!

1955: Moussa Diallo is born and growing up in West Africa, as son of a white danish mother and a black father, – a famous advocate of law and busy politician. 1973:  Jimmy Hendrix, James Brown, Earth Wind and Fire are in, funk is hot – and Moussa´s greatest dream is to  become a musician.

He defies his strict father, runs away from home and turns up at his mother’s place in Copenhagen.  With his hip afro look and great musical skills he becomes the most sought-after bass player in Denmark.

At the age of 30, MOUSSA is at the peak of his career, but he’s in despair. His second marriage is shaking, and he does not have time for his kids. His crisis takes him to India in search of spirituality, and to Mali to the music that speaks to him and to the father whose acceptance he yearns for.

”SOUND TRACKS of life – Moussa Diallo on bass” is a dramatic tale about daring to pursue your dream and, despite of success, being confronted with deep childhood betrayal.

It is the story of friendship and relationships, about being able to forgive and to seek reconciliation.

The film takes us on an unusual journey – from the desert of Mali to the funky Seventies and the cool pop of the Eighties, from Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King to danish bands like ”Marquis De Sade” and to the famous sound of Mali,  – it is a modern Odyssey with Moussa Diallo as the guiding star.
