Kenya: Spor Media and Nafsi Africa celebrate 10th anniversary
Spor Media and Nafsi Africa have been working together for 10 years and celebrated the anniversary when Spor Media made a monitoring visit to Kenya earlier this year.
The ten years together have been an amazing journey that began with a tour in 2014 with 11 young artists.
The collaboration quickly evolved to include activities in Kenya, where Nafsi’s acrobatics training in the slums was complemented with knowledge about the SDGs and more activities for youth, such as teaching young Kenyans smartphone reporting (Tangaza), online study tours for primarily high school students (Global Stay Tours) and several tours with young performing artists.
We are currently planning the fifth tour with Nafsi. It will be in the fall and with a theme related to consumption and climate.
The collaboration between our two organizations has helped develop Nafsi into a project-supporting organization with budget responsibility.
Among young people in Nairobi, Nafsi has become known as a place of opportunity and there are long waiting lists for the Spor-supported Tangaza project.
Many of the new young people in Nafsi are involved in social work. They are committed and innovative and demonstrate good leadership skills
