Nafsi tour 2024 canceled.

 

This fall’s major tour with seven young artists and performers from Nafsi Africa in Kenya has unfortunately been canceled.

After months of wrangling with the Danish visa authorities, they have been told by the Danish Immigration Service that they will not be granted a visa to Denmark.

Spor Media has been organizing tours for youth culture groups to Denmark from countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia for 20 years and has hosted Nafsi groups four times before.

Twice the groups came via Germany and twice they came directly to Denmark.

Now it seems that cultural encounters with young people from the Global South on Danish soil are closed.

It’s a shame for the thousands of young Danes who are missing out on a unique opportunity for learning, insight and dialog with peers from the African continent.
And it’s very hard to understand for the young Kenyans who have worked hard for months to complete a new performance about climate change as seen from Kenya.

The rejection comes despite the government’s new Africa strategy focusing on ‘partnership’ and ‘equal cooperation’.
