What is Global Stay Tour?
A Global Stay Tour is a digital education offer and a study trip that can take place directly from the classroom or even from the student’s home – all it takes is a screen and internet connection. The personal encounter is at focus when Danish students are digitally welcomed to Kenya or Bolivia by young people who will act as their cultural guides on the “trip”. Together with their cultour-guides the students will investigate issues such as climate change, responsible consumption, gender equality and other Global Goals-challenges.
The digital trip gives access to experiences, which the students would not be able to have on a regular study trip, as the local cultour-guides are able to show places that wouldn’t otherwise be accessable. Through the personal encounter and an equal dialogue, the students will gain insight into the challenges young people in other parts of world face. Additionally, their international perspective will be broadened, their engagement in the world will be strengthened and their prerequisites for creating changes will grow.
Your Global Stay Tour can go to either Kenya or Bolivia, where Spor Media collaborates with the cultural organisations Nafsi and Teatro Trono:
- Nafsi Africa in Kenya offers classes in acrobatics, dance and music to children and young people in the slums of Nairobi, while trying to make young people aware of the world in which they live.
- Teatro Trono in Bolivia is a grassroots theatre and cultural project in El Alto, known as “the capital of Bolivia’s indigenous peoples”. In the organization’s two culture houses there is a range of cultural activities for children and young people to participate in.
The organisations have worked locally to strengthen the communication skills of the cultour-guides in order for them to tell stories about their life and the place they live. They have received education from local journalists and learned about how to control a smart phone in the best way to create good sound and pictures. They are therefore well-equipped to the role as cultour-guides.
