The consequential climate activist

(2022, 10:40 minutes)

In Kitui, Kenya, climate change is making it increasingly difficult to be a farmer.

Local farmer and climate activist Kisilu Musuya has decided to stay and fight to convince other farmers of the need to find ways to resist the effects of climate change. Many choose to follow him.

Nafsi Africa’s* Tangaza project – Swahili for ‘shout out’ – trains young people from the slums of Nairobi to make media productions using smartphones. One group chose to make a portrait of Kisilu Musya, who is also the main character in the international documentary ‘Thank you for the rain’.

The project has received funding from CISU (2022-23)

*Nafsi Africa is a grassroots organization in Nairobi, Kenya. Several times a week, volunteers train over 300 children and youth in the slums of Nairobi. They learn acrobatics, dance and music, gain skills and confidence and get away from the dangers of the streets.
Since 2014, Spor Media and Nafsi Africa have collaborated on several projects: Global Kids, Manzi Rada, Global Stay Tours and Tangaza.
